Small Business Loan Program
The Small Business Loan Program was initiated in 1993 and was developed to assist OCN Band member on-reserve business ventures. This program provides financial assistance, business plan writing assistance, liaisons with financial institutions and funding agencies, and provides aftercare upon request.
Arts and Crafts Grant Program
PBDC administers an Arts & Crafts (A&C) Grant Program to assist in the production and maintenance of cultural and traditional handi-crafts, skills and activities on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation.
The A&C funds are available to OCN Members, eighteen years of age and over, for purposes of purchasing supplies needed to manufacture arts, crafts and clothing traditional to OCN’s culture and historical background. All A&C funding is restricted to projects located on OCN..
Equity Assistance
Equity assistance is available to small business applicants wishing to start a business on reserve and who do not have the required 10% equity to be eligible for other loans from any other lending institution. Equity Assistance grant amounts are limited to a maximum of $2,000. Applicants are required to provide an amount equal to 20% of the equity assistance amount, which would be an indication of their commitment to the project.
New Business Ventures
The Paskwayak Business Development Corporation is currently in the process of developing new business ventures, which include an Industrial Park, Lumber/Hardware outlet, Golf Course, Sporting Goods outlet, as well as other complimentary businesses.
